METALLICA WISHES YOU A HAPPY PASSOVER

When I was a kid (and still now), I dreaded Passover dinner. First off, it marked eight days of not eating bread, and secondly the Seder (dinner/service) went on forever.

Well, something that I've always tried to spread to the masses since the 80s, and will now try with this website, is a new way of celebrating Passover....with METALLICA! Not only can Passover be a fun time with the family and celebrate not dying in Egypt, but it can involve some head banging.

Where am I getting with this? Well, Metallica's classic "Creeping Death" IS the story of Passover. So, instead of a boring dinner reading hours of the Haggadah, throw on Ride The Lightning, and get through the story in a thrashing seven minutes!

LYRICS:
Slaves
Hebrews born to serve, to the pharaoh
Heed
To his every word, live in fear
Faith
Of the unknown one, the deliverer
Wait
Something must be done, four hundred years

So let it be written
So let it be done
I'm sent here by the chosen one
So let it be written
So let it be done
To kill the first born pharaoh's son
I'm creeping death

Now
Let my people go, land of Goshen
Go
I will be with thee, bush of fire
Blood
Running red and strong down the Nile
Plague
Darkness three days long, hail to fire

So let it be written
So let it be done
I'm sent here by the chosen one
So let it be written
So let it be done
To kill the first born pharaoh's son
I'm creeping death

Die by my hand
I creep across the land
Killing first-born man
Die by my hand
I creep across the land
Killing first-born man

I
Rule the midnight air, the destroyer
Born
I shall soon be there, deadly mass
I
Creep the steps and floor, final darkness
Blood
Lambs blood painted door, I shall pass

So let it be written
So let it be done
I'm sent here by the chosen one
So let it be written
So let it be done
To kill the first born pharaoh's son
I'm creeping death

  1. If I could get my family to listen to Creeping Death instead of reading the Haggadah tonight I would cry tears of joy. Instead, we will trudge our way through that damn book until all hand washing is complete. Bitter herbs be damned!

  2. How random is it that this song came up on my ipod shuffle this morning on the subway?

my Jewish roots are showing on this holy day!

  3. From the time I first heard Metallica's "Creeping Death" (maybe 1984) I have always thought of it as "The Passover Song"

Growing up Passover in my parents house was sort of a sedar meal and watching the epic movie "The Ten Commandments"

Thankfully my parents (both Jewish) werent religious and on Easter Sunday my mom would make a yummy baked ham with pineapple, cherries, and gloves. And me and my sisters would get Easter baskets. (Easter for us had nothing to do with Christ, it was all about the food- lol)

    Happy Passover! - Valerie

  4. Happy Passover!

Not a huge Metallica fan, but I am definitely downloading this song and making my in-laws play it tonight (I know, I know, we're late. We never celebrate any holiday on the appropriate day!)

    You rule!

  5. Wow! I'm not a big Metallica fan either, but this was interesting.
I grew up jewish and the only thing I remember liking about being jewish was Passover, partly because of the food and partly because it was meaningful for me.
This version of the story (thanks to the posted lyrics; otherwise, I'd not have even known what language it was in!) is a good addition.

  6. With havin so much written content do you
ever run into any issues of plagorism or copyright infringement?
My site has a lot of exclusive content I've either written myself or outsourced but it looks like a lot of it is popping it up all over the web without my authorization. Do you know any ways to help stop content from being ripped off? I'd
    certainly appreciate it.

  19. However, while Paphos Car Hire and the USSR was applicable
until 31st December 1999. The craze for music has led almost every city of UK to host an array of gadgets designed to keep the Paphos Car Hire problem" a neutral form of words, or so I thought. You need to know which places have the best choice for long roads is diesel.
