BACON LOVERS = CHEMISTRY NERDS
Leave it up to researchers in the UK to come up the theory that we love bacon not for it's taste, but "but in the flavors and smells that are released when cooking bacon reaches a certain level of heat."
Our friends over at the FOOD2 blog highlight this phenomenon in an article today that you can check out HERE.
Definitely an interesting article, but a warning that it brings back memories of being in high school with talks of amino acids and such.
I love bacon - the taste, the smell, the everything - so judge for yourself whether it is chemistry or just that bacon is from a higher power.

MAPLE BACON JEALOUSY
Most of you know my Lebanese friend Rob as the creator of The Bacon Wellington. Well, Rob is currently on an around-the-country trip and was lucky enough to stop at VooDoo Doughnut in Portland, OR and pick up a "Maple Bacon Doughnut".
Instead of freeze-drying one and sending it FedEx to me, he decided to send this picture.
I'm going right now to buy a plane ticket west!

THE NRA LOVES BACON(JEW)
The BA-K-47
It is street legal
Probably has the same killing potential as a real AK-47
And yes, you are looking at a life-size replica of a gun made entirely out of BACON
Check out more here

METALLICA WISHES YOU A HAPPY PASSOVER
When I was a kid (and still now), I dreaded Passover dinner. First off, it marked eight days of not eating bread, and secondly the Seder (dinner/service) went on forever.
Well, something that I've always tried to spread to the masses since the 80s, and will now try with this website, is a new way of celebrating Passover....with METALLICA! Not only can Passover be a fun time with the family and celebrate not dying in Egypt, but it can involve some head banging.
Where am I getting with this? Well, Metallica's classic "Creeping Death" IS the story of Passover. So, instead of a boring dinner reading hours of the Haggadah, throw on Ride The Lightning, and get through the story in a thrashing seven minutes!
LYRICS:
Slaves
Hebrews born to serve, to the pharaoh
Heed
To his every word, live in fear
Faith
Of the unknown one, the deliverer
Wait
Something must be done, four hundred years
So let it be written
So let it be done
I'm sent here by the chosen one
So let it be written
So let it be done
To kill the first born pharaoh's son
I'm creeping death
Now
Let my people go, land of Goshen
Go
I will be with thee, bush of fire
Blood
Running red and strong down the Nile
Plague
Darkness three days long, hail to fire
So let it be written
So let it be done
I'm sent here by the chosen one
So let it be written
So let it be done
To kill the first born pharaoh's son
I'm creeping death
Die by my hand
I creep across the land
Killing first-born man
Die by my hand
I creep across the land
Killing first-born man
I
Rule the midnight air, the destroyer
Born
I shall soon be there, deadly mass
I
Creep the steps and floor, final darkness
Blood
Lambs blood painted door, I shall pass
So let it be written
So let it be done
I'm sent here by the chosen one
So let it be written
So let it be done
To kill the first born pharaoh's son
I'm creeping death

BACON TAKEDOWN - THE SKULLS & BACON REVIEW
While I was sitting, delayed, in the Ft. Lauderdale airport, the fevered masses in Brooklyn were at Radegast Hall tasting 30 different Bacon recipes. Since I was not able to attend, I figured I would put a link up here to a review of the event from one of my favorite blogs SKULLS AND BACON. Check it out here

BACONCAMP
So I've spent the past week here in Texas. First down in Austin for SXSW Music Festival where I consumed Mexican Food, Burgers and a little bit of BBQ. Then I headed up to Plano for a few days of seeing the neighborhood I grew up in. During my time here in Texas, I consumed a good amount of pork via brisket, ribs, sausage, breakfast burritos and of course bacon.
Why am I telling you all of this you ask? Well, at the same time I was enjoying myself here in the south, there was even more fun happening in San Francisco at BaconCamp! Why did I not know about this? Doesn't everyone know that my future is not in the music business, but it is in BACON!
I'm not sure who the genius is behind the event, but kudos to them (I will be attending next year for sure).
Read more about it at the sites below:

And check out the winning recipe for Maker’s Mark Ice Cream with a Maple Caramel Swirl and Candied Bacon Bits: http://mooflyfood.com/baconicecream/
