So, it's been over 4 months since you've seen an update here on BaconJew.com. Well, 2011 will see much more action from your favorite destination for weird pork and Jewish culture. Coming January 29th will be extensive coverage of the BEER, BOURBON & BBQ FESTIVAL here in NYC! Also, I'll be recapping the PADDY LONG'S BEER & BACON TASTING from my trip to Chicago back in November and of course trying to pimp out my KOSHER KLOTHING to the masses.
Thanks for sticking around while I slacked...I promise some awesomeness this year!
I've been slacking here on BaconJew lately, but I wanted to wish everyone a very happy pork-filled holiday weekend. Stay tuned for more updates in the coming days!
Finally something good about the state of Michigan...BACON CAMP. The Washington Post just ran a story on a camp I wish existed when I was a kid (though I'm sure my parents still would have sent me to the JCC). Read all about it HERE!
The chocolate eggs are filled with Soft bacon caramel + 55% dark chocolate. With a description like this, I can't resist "Five dark chocolate half eggs arrive nestled in straw and are each filled with soft buttery bacon caramel. Bite, crack, ooze, salty-sweet delight."
My favorite hangover food has always been the bacon, egg and cheese on a bagel. It's hearty, it's tasty, it's not kosher, it's perfect....well, what I thought was perfect. THE BAGEL STORE in Brooklyn has taken it a step further and actually baked in bacon, egg and cheddar into a bagel! I haven't ventured across the East River to try it yet...but next time I wake up randomly in some shiksa's bed in Williamsburg, I will be sure to get one.

My friend Adam has come up with a great way to kickstart my heart and it is called THE OCTOPUS.
From the words of it's creator:
It was a Pork Roll Egg and Cheese - with 4 strips of bacon... the strips of bacon were so long - I was able to make it into a pattern to look like the sandwich had 8 bacon tentacles.
The eggs have to be over easy so when you bite into it - they ooze like the ink from an octopus getting attacked!
I guess you could make it without the pork roll - but why?
You might be familiar with ORPHANED LAND from past posts here on the site, but the band just released their new album, The Never Ending Way Of ORwarriOR in the US! To celebrate, they have posted their new video for "Sapari" over at AOL Noisecreep...which you can just watch below as well.
Pick up the album on ITUNES now, and make sure to see them playing some rare North American dates in March.

...is what my friend Jayson decided to tell me over email late last night. Ok, not really (because that would be kinda weird). But he did send me the link to DESIGN DUDE'S Etsy page with an awesome greeting card and bacon magnets!
Leave it to the most healthy state in the country, North Carolina, to release the results of a study showing that a plate of bacon and eggs can help pregnant women have smarter babies. And then leave it to the most healthy country in the world, the UK, to report about it HERE
Happy New Year everyone! For those of you in NYC, you might be familiar with CUNY75, a local TV station from the City University Of New York. A few months ago, one of their shows called INDEPENDENT SOURCES, interviewed me for a segment on Jews and pork. Well, it made their best of 2009 special!
Any of you can check it out by clicking the logo below (and you can forward to the 24 minute mark to see me in all my TV glory)
